Owner Surrender

We understand that parting ways with your animal can be especially difficult. From time to time, people find that they cannot properly care for their dog, and they need to place them in more capable hands. We will do our best to work with you to ensure the best possible solution for you and your pet.

It is always preferable to keep a dog for its entire life as dogs bond deeply with their families, but sometimes life throws you a curveball, and it forces you to do things you never though you’d have to. Before finding a place to surrender your pet, you should explore some alternative approaches to your problem. After all, approximately 20% of the dogs who enter shelters nationwide end up being euthanized. So, you owe it to your dog to give him or her the best chance at a long, healthy life.

Some alternative approaches include seeking a trainer if you’re surrendering a dog due to behavioral issues or you can call rescues / shelters in your area to ask for advice. Many shelters are very familiar with owner surrenders and they can provide you with some useful information to try to help keep your furry friend in your home.

If none of this works for you, please email us and you will be asked to complete a set of questions regarding your dog and the decision to surrender your dog. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

East Coast Canine Rescue reserves the right to evaluate your dog and make a determination as to if our rescue can help re-home your pet.
